“Say It And Play It”

Students will learn how to recognize phonetic syllables and tap them out. They will reinforce steady beat and work wtih the state and national standards in music. This will increase reading literacy skills as well.

Students in Pre K through 1 will use percussion instruments to enhance music and reading skills. They will learn simple songs and accompany themselves on small percussion instruments playing the beat. We will document the instruments through photos and record ourselves singing and playing for others.

Small handheld percussion instruments made for small hands. Flip camera and song charts.

Other Information

I am working at a Title 1 school this year, Hawthrone Elemetnary. Over 80% of students are on free and reduced lunch. Being able to participate in these music activities that develop self esteem and the brain is so important for these students. This type of activity is very important for Pre-K through second grade. Beat competency and using rhymes and simple songs will enhance overall reading skills and develop music and the brain.
