I teach science to all 6th graders in the Batavia Local School District. I noticed the students LOVE to doodle; however, it is usually very random in nature. Therefore, I decided to combine my curriculum with art and allow \”Academic Doodles\” when watching a video or reading a lesson aloud. The students have come up with some amazing visuals to help remind themselves of the content. I then post the \”doodles\” for all to see.
My students have learned to stay engaged in the lessons/video. They have developed their own images to make connections to the content. This enables them to retain and apply the information much better.
