Illustrated Manuscripts


Students will take the English lesson of learning about fables and bring it to life in the art room. Students will draw a layout of the design they wish for the story, create a border, lettering icons, and other designs of interest. They will re-write the story within the manuscript around the pictures and borders with a sharpie marker. Next paint the picture and border then outline with sharpie to make it pop out. You can bind it in a book with all the fables for the school.


Students will learn how to put a illustration with a fable or story. Students will learn how to create borders and icons of interest to bring the reader into the theme of the story to make it more interesting. Students will learn the origin of illustrated manuscripts and how they were originally made and their purpose.
