In science we study fossils, imprints, and different scientific eras. When discussing imprints, each student is given modeling clay to take home. They are asked to create an imprint to bring back to class. Students are then given an opportunity to analyze and predict what each imprint is and how it was made. We then have a discovery activity when students can divulge their own imprint.
